Elwin "Trey" R. Thrasher, III was born in Gainesville, Florida, while both his parents were attending the University of Florida. His father was a Staff Judge Advocate for the United States Air Force and as a child he and his family lived in Amarillo, Texas, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Zaragoza, Spain. After his father was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, the family moved to Tallahassee, Florida. Trey graduated from the University of Florida with honors in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Two years later, he earned his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law.

He represents both corporate and private individuals and devotes his practice to landlords' rights, creditors' rights, commercial litigation, real property litigation, community association law, and the defense of consumer protection lawsuits filed against his clients. He has a concentration in landlords' rights, commercial and residential leasing issues and related real estate matters. In this area of his practice, he files hundreds of eviction actions every year in courts throughout North and Central Florida. He frequently lectures for the National Apartment Association's Certified Apartment Manager course. He is an active member of the Capital Area Apartment Association and frequently lectures and provides training to property managers.

Trey has extensive knowledge of computer software and programming. He has used that knowledge to develop, update and improve a computer application he wrote that runs all aspects of the law firm (including the website that you are reading right now). The application is unique to our office and enables our staff to process work more efficiently, automates notifications to clients on the status of their files, and allows clients real time access to their files online 24 hours a day. Since the system images almost every document related to the files, when clients access their files online, they are immediately able to see images of any documents associated with their files. If you have any suggestions for improvements to the system or access, please contact Trey (he wrote the application so he can make changes to it!).
